Phillips is very well known for her fluffy romances and has recently made the jump from paperback to hardback. Publishers have finally figured out what women have known all along, there is always a market for a good romance. In The Heartbreaker, Chase and Sloane, as trendy as their names, meet, fall into instant lust and spend the rest of the book trying to solve a tangle of mysteries all the while pretending they aren't really in love.

- Venetia
- by Georgette Heyer
- When a wicked rake moves in next door to sweet sheltered Venetia, all the neighbours are dismayed. They fear for her virtue. Venetia on the other hand charms him with her sense of humour. The witty banter is the highlight of this book. If you enjoy period dialogue you will love this book.

- The School for Husbands
- by Wendy Holden

Desperate not to lose his family, he signs up to "The School for Husbands"; which transforms hopeless spouses into perfect marriage partners. - To Die For
- by Linda Howard
- In one of her funniest novels ever, Howard tells the story of a not so dumb blonde, who is just loaded with self esteem and common sense. Blair Mallory went to university on a cheerleading scholarship and got a business degree. After her divorce she decides to open a gym (they always say "Go with your strengths). When an old boyfriend turns up wanting to pick up where they left off, she makes him work for it. "Walk away, crawl back" is her motto. Told in a dippy southern belle voice, this has got to be the all-time perfect beach book.

- Midnight in Ruby Bayou
- by Elizabeth Lowell
- A loving and protective rich family and a career as a successful jewelry designer aren't enough to make Faith Donovan happy. Now that her favourite brothers and her twin sister are all happily married she feels alone and left out. Then her older brother assigns a bodyguard to go with her to a jewelry exhibit and Mmmmmmhhhh. A New Jersey mafia type and a knife-wielding Russian gangster can't break the spell of sultry southern nights and a black-haired blue-eyed good ole boy who is as charming as he is deadly. Perhaps my second favourite beach book

- Match Me If You Can
- by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
- In many ways the banter and mix ups will put you in mind of Georgette Heyer, but these hilarious romances are right up to date. Hapless Annabel is the curly-haired black sheep of a family of over-achievers. She tries re-inventing herself by reviving her Grandmother's old matchmaking business. When she gets a chance to make a match for one of Chicago's most eligible bachelors she knows it can turn her business around if she succeeds. Heath Champion however may be the client from Hell. Funny, fluffy and witty, true love has more ups and downs than a roller coaster, but wins out in the end.

- Drive Me Crazy
- by Nancy Warren
- Can't a guy look up a woman's skirt......without losing part of his anatomy? It isn't my fault the town librarian, aka Miss Alex Forrest, likes to perch on high heels and tall ladders for a guy's maximum viewing pleasure. The lady's bod and choice of outfit may be muy caliente, but the gaze is icy. Give her time. She'll come around to the old Duncan Forbes charm.
I'd rather eat drain cleaner.....than spend one more minute with that smug, big-city art professor, Duncan Forbes. The "Indiana Jones of the Art World"? Please. He couldn't find the Architecture stack till I pointed it out. And if I grabbed hold of his well-toned arm, it's not because he happens to be the sexiest man ever to destroy my Dewey Decimal System, it's because I'm not used to finding a dead body in my library and a girl can be excused a weak moment...
Warren writes romances with more than a little twist of humour, they are consistantly entertaining and deserve to be better known.
