What is the DIY Maker Fest?

Part science fair and part county fair, the DIY Maker Fest is the biggest show and tell ever! It's an afternoon of discovery and DIY, innovation and experimentation for all ages.

How can I participate?

You can participate in two ways:

  1. Share your Stuff: Showcase your knowledge and share your skills at a booth.
  2. Visit the DIY Maker Fest, support local makers and learn new things.

I / we hereby apply for exhibit space in the DIY Maker Fest Saturday, November 17, 2018.

I / we understand that my / our contact information as listed in my / our DIY Maker Fest Exhibit Entry Form will be shared with the Milton Public Library DIY Maker Fest team for the sole purpose of contacting me / us regarding the Fest.

If accepted,

I / We / the Exhibitor agree to abide by the Maker Code and DIY Maker Fest Teams terms, conditions and regulations as follows:

  1. All of the Exhibitor's property at the show shall be at the sole risk of the Exhibitor and Milton Public Library (from hereon in called "MPL") assumes no responsibility for loss, theft or damage thereto.
  2. MPL reserves the right, in its sole discretion to:
    • Determine the eligibility of Exhibitors and Exhibits of the DIY Maker Fest,
    • Reject or prohibit or alter or remove Exhibits or any part thereof, including printed materials, products, signs, lights or sound, and to expel Exhibitors or their personnel if, in MPL's opinion, their conduct or presentation is objectionable to other DIY Maker Fest participants or to the general public;
    • Relocate Exhibits of Exhibitors when, in MPL's opinion, such moves are necessary to maintain the character and / or good order of the DIY Maker Fest;
    • MPL further reserves the right to cancel any Exhibit Entry Form application and to withhold possession of the space; or expel the Exhibitor therefrom if the Exhibitor fails to comply with any of the DIY Maker Fest rules and regulations.
  3. MPL reserves the right to reproduce all photographs, images, and likeness taken during the DIY Maker Fest for future purposes.
  4. The Exhibitor is liable for any damage they cause to the facility or to any property of MPL, its agents or any other Exhibitor.
  5. The Exhibitor accepts all risks associated with the use of the Exhibit space and environs. The Exhibitor shall not make any claim or demand or take any legal action, whatsoever, against the DIY Maker Fest organizers or facility in which the show is held, for any loss, damage or injury howsoever caused, to the Exhibitor, its officers, employees, agents or their property. The Exhibitor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless DIY Maker Fest organizers, the facility, their respective officers, agents, affiliates and employees, against all claims, costs and charges of every kind resulting from their occupancy of the exhibit or its environs, for personal injuries, death, property damages or any other damage sustained by the Exhibitor or its officers, agents, employees or those for whom in law they are responsible, or the DIY Maker Fest or a visitor to the DIY Maker Fest.
  6. Food is not permitted in the DIY Maker Fest facility or exhibitor space.
  7. No sale of products or services is permitted.
  8. Exhibit space may be cancelled provided written notice is received by the DIY Maker Fest team prior to Friday, November 9th, 2018.
  9. In the event the Exhibitor fails to abide by the Maker Code, the DIY Maker Fest team reserves the right to cancel this application.

The Golden Oak Award™ features up to ten recently published Canadian books chosen specifically for new readers in adult literacy programs.

Nominees are announced in October of each year and voting opens in May of the following year. The winner is announced as part of The Learners' Conference in Toronto in June.

Evergreen Award Logo

The Evergreen Award™ features ten recently published Canadian books for adults of any age.

Nominees are announced at the Ontario Library Super Conference which takes place in February of each year. Voting takes place during the month of September and the winner is announced during Ontario Public Library Week in October.

Library patrons are invited to read titles beginning in the spring of each year and vote for their favourite nominee at the Milton Public Library during September. From May through August enter a ballot for each Evergreen nominee read for a chance to win the grand prize.

Adult Summer Reading Program

This summer, read one or all of the wonderful Canadian books that have been nominated for The Evergreen Award™!

The Evergreen Award™ is a reading program for adults that connects readers from all across the province with stellar Canadian authors. From May to August, the 2018 Evergreen nominees will be shelved in the New and Notable section of the library. Pick one up today or place a hold online.

For each 2018 Evergreen book you read, you may enter one ballot in the draw. At the end of the summer, we'll draw a winner for the Grand Prize book basket. Ballots will be available starting May 1st through August 31st. Enter in person at either library location today or enter online and be sure to keep reading all summer long. The more you read, the greater your chances of winning the grand prize draw! Vote for your favourite title in September.
