International Women's Day Film Screening

Because We Are Girls (mature themes; viewer discretion is advised) is a powerful documentary that tells the story of three Punjabi-Canadian sisters from British Columbia. Filmmaker Baljit Sangra offers a sensitive and moving portrait of the sisters—the trauma of growing up in a household as silent victims of abuse, but also their strength as they confront family members, explore their gender roles and ethnic identities, and define their understanding of healthy relationships. Attend this film to see how women can come together and stand shoulder to shoulder to demand justice. Because We Are Girls was the Vancouver Film Critics Circle (2019) nominee for Best Canadian Documentary. Drop-in.
