Exam Proctoring Service

Exam Proctoring Service

Milton Public Library supports lifelong learning and is happy to help you meet your educational goals. MPL offers exam proctoring for a fee of $40 + HST based on availability and staffing. It is not possible to request a specific person or location. An available staff member will check on students periodically, but we currently do not invigilate any exam. Please ensure your educational institution is supportive of MPL's approach.

Guidelines:

  1. A minimum of ten (10) days' notice is required. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.
  2. A Milton Public Library card in good standing and one additional piece of valid photo identification is required.
  3. Students must arrive 15 minutes prior to writing an exam to pay their proctoring fee and complete any pre-exam procedures or paperwork. Scheduled exam times will NOT be extended past the allotted exam time due to late arrival of student.
  4. Proctoring service available Monday - Thursday and Saturday (A.M.) at specific times. We are unable to accommodate exams longer than three hours.
  5. Students will not be allowed to bring personal belongings into the exam area beyond what is stipulated on their exam guidelines.
  6. The library is not able to guarantee a distraction-free setting.
  7. 48 hours advance notice is required to reschedule* an exam (*subject to availability). A $5.00 rescheduling fee will apply in addition to the exam-proctoring fee. No shows without advance cancellation will forfeit future booking privileges.
  8.  The library will mail completed exams in a timely manner, however it is not responsible for completed exams that do not reach the educational institution by the deadline date. Students are responsible for providing a self-addressed postage paid return envelope if it is not provided by their educational institution.
  9. Online exams:
    • Students must provide their own laptops as per institution approval.
    • It is the responsibility of the student to install the proper software on their computer prior to writing the exam. The library is unable to offer any technical support for issues arising with online exams.
    • The library is not responsible for unforeseen interruptions of the test due to loss of power, internet service, or other computer problems.

If you would like to have an exam proctored, please complete the online request form.

Homebound Service

Who Can Join?

You must be:

  • A Milton resident
  • Homebound or institutionalized for three months or longer, due to age, illness or disability

How to Join

Have your visitor stop at the Milton Public Library for a Homebound Service application and selection guide, and if necessary, a library card registration form.

How it Works?

When you fill out a selection profile with us we use it to help us choose materials you would like. We then sign them out for you and have them ready for your volunteer to pick up and deliver to you.

What is Available?

  • Regular and Large Print Books
  • Paperbacks
  • Magazines
  • Audiobooks
  • DVDs (special arrangements would need to be made as these have a shorter loan period)

Rural Library Service

Rural Library Service

Do you live in Ward Three or the rural areas of Ward One? Then this service may be for you!

Here's How It Works

  • To be eligible, patrons must be able to access the Milton Public Library catalogue.
  • Search the catalogue, and place a hold on the item you would like to borrow. When it is available, we will mail the book to you.
  • When you are finished, re-use the envelope and, using the return lable that will be provided, mail it back to the Library.
  • You need to have Internet access and an email account to participate.

How do you sign up?

You must register by sending an e-mail requesting the service to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. You need to have Internet access and an email account to participate.

Please Note:

  • We will mail only one book at a time (unless they are really tiny!) and ask that you package them the same way when you return them.
  • We are limiting the service to print material for now - no A/V.
  • Materials from other libraries brought in by interlibrary loan will still need to be picked up at the Milton library.
  • If you have a "B" box, the package should fit in it. If, for some reason, the package is not delivered, you may have to pick it up at the Post Office. Your pickup location is usually still closer than the library.
